Flashing & Installation of Optware

This is the latest, greatest and easiest way to enable Optware on your Router. It is recommended that you have a router with USB capable storage [Harddisks (must be self-powered), flash-drives etc.] and the LATEST build! (preferably freshly flashed)

I am using a 2gb Flash Drive.

Squid Proxy Server

Squid is a caching and forwarding web proxy. It has a wide variety of uses, from speeding up a web server by caching repeated requests; to caching web, DNS and other computer network lookups for a group of people sharing network resources; to aiding security by filtering traffic. Although primarily used for HTTP and FTP, Squid includes limited support for several other protocols including TLS, SSL, Internet Gopher and HTTPS.

FreeNAS

FreeNAS

FreeNAS is an operating system that can be installed on virtually any hardware platform to share computer data storage over a computer network. 'Free' as in 'free and open source' and 'NAS' as in "network-attached storage", FreeNAS is the simplest way to create a centralized and easily-accessible home for your data.

The FreeNAS project and software were founded in 2005 on the principle that network storage be made available to the world at no cost and unencumbered by license restrictions. The FreeNAS Project has a mature community and a team of developers dedicated to meeting that goal and providing the best (open-source) network file storage solution in the world

Postfix

Postfix

The Postfix Mail Server setup that i have conducted was because i wanted to learn something new something that is essential to us. Emails.

I have search on the web for how tos and all. When i follow the How Tos to the dot, the mailing systems never worked the way it is supposed to. Finally, after searching and changing operating systems, for ex: from Ubuntu, freebsd, centos, i frose on CentOS and found a wondeful guide that actually worked on the first shot. see link to the original post.

Note: i made a mistake in the ./conf.pl of the squirrelmail setting. i did not actually put the domain name under Server > SettingsGeneral > 1. Domain, where i actually entered only the hostname rather then the domain name. so although everything worked wonderfully i kept getting funny domain url in the email fromto. example <username>@localhost.domain.com rather then <username>@domain.com.
